Historically, Swanwick Catering Equipment has been one of the leading importers of US foodservice brands into the UK, either for export to The Middle East, Africa or for the US Military in Europe.

Back as early as the 1980s, Swanwick Catering Equipment was importing brands such as Market Forge, Blodgett, Bakers Pride, Pitco and Manitowoc. More recently we have aligned strategic partnerships with Vulcan Hart and Hobart, Garland, The Manitowoc Groupand Crown Foodservice. We have access to all US brands, either directly or thought gold-key partnerships with established US domestic distributors.

While the trend in the US has been to avoid CE certification, more and more brands are now offering CE certified products for use within the European Union and we now have access to many more brands, including BKI Standex, Bakers pride and Nor Lake.

While we operate as an Electrolux distributor for domestic UK and Europe, we are now importing and exporting more US brands than ever before. There is a trend in the Middle East and Africa towards US brands and we have established ourselves as a major importer and exporter of US foodservice equipment. We now offer Vulcan Hart for prime cooking equipment, Berkel for preparation equipment, Crown for steam cooking equipment and BKI Standex for specialist ovens and cooking appliances. After the imposition of CE certification in the mid 1990s, Swanwick Catering Equipment adopted a partnership with Zanussi Professional as an official Zanussi networker for the UK. We are now part of the Electrolux Professional programme within the UK.

The Electrolux brand now owns several other keynote brands including Molteni, Electrolux Dito and Therma. Each brand stamps the quality and craftsmanship of years of experience in producing quality foodservice systems. Since its formation Swanwick Catering Equipment has worked with a range of civil and military clients throughout the world.

During the 1980s and 1990s the company became established throughout the UK working with institutions and business in manufacturing, education and military. The company provided foodservice solutions to higher education institutions, HM Armed Forces, the private school system, manufactures such as Jaguar Cars, Kraft General Foods and UK Air Traffic Control.

As the company became more established in the domestic UK market, so the overseas market started to grow. The company began to liaise with overseas procurement agencies, providing equipment to science, research, oil exploration and  the hospitality industry all over Africa and The Middle East.

In the early 1990s, during Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and more recently with the conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, the company has been as main supplier of foodservice equipment for the US Government organisations in the UK and overseas. With the scope and reach of our product base, it has been strategically possible to locate, ship and install any brand of foodservice equipment anywhere in the world.

More recently, the company has begun to work outside of the foodservice umbrella, acting as a procurement agency itself for many clients throughout Libya, Nigeria and many African nations. The company now acts as a supplier of medical, engineering, technology and industrial goods from all over the world.

As well as prime cooking equipment, we also stock over five thousand different items of light equipment at our Cheltenham warehouse.
